I taught myself two-color knitting with this pattern. The double layer of yarn makes them very warm. The picot edging makes them feel even fancier.
Size: Women’s Medium. Size can be increased by casting on additional stitches in increments of three.
Gauge: 9 stitches = 1 inch in pattern
Needles: US 2.75mm DPNs or 16” circular needle, small crochet hook (Size C, D or E should work.)
Yarn: Knit Picks Essential, (1) 50g skein each of (2) contrasting colors. Shown in African Violet (Main Color- MC) and Grass (Contrasting Color-CC).
Special notes: By knitting and purling through the back loop of each stitch creates a distinctive and defined ribbing.
2x1 Twisted Rib Stitch (TR): k2 through back loop, p1 through back loop to end.
Cuff:
With waste yarn using provisional cast-on, CO 54. Join in the round and place marker.

Round 4 in CC: TR to marker.
Rounds 5-12 in MC: TR to marker.
Round 13 in CC: TR to marker.
Rounds 14-15 in MC: TR to marker.
Rounds 16-22: Knit all stitches
(6 rows of stockinette).
Main Body:
Begin Chart. Repeat across row. Repeat these 3 rows 7 times.
Note: Chart is read from right to left.

Begin Thumb Gusset:
Beginning from marker, slip maker and loosely cast off 9 stitches, alternating cast off yarn between MC and CC. Work row 1 of chart pattern. At first cast-off stitch, cast on 9 stitches, alternating between MC and CC.
Finish Body and Edging:
Beginning from row 2 of Chart patter, work 4 pattern repeats.
Work 5 rows stockinette in MC.
Switch to CC, Using a small crochet hook, bind off 3 stitches. *Chain 6 stitches. Bind off next 3 stitches.* continue until all stitches are bound off.
Unzip provisional cast-on and repeat this bind off for the cuff edging.
Thumb:
Using MC, pick up edges of the 9 cast-off stitches and the 9 cast-on stitches.
Work 10 rounds in 1x1 Twisted Rib. (TK1, TP1).
Bind off loosely in MC.
Finishing:
Weave in all loose ends before blocking. Soak in cool water with a dash of mild detergent for 20 minutes. Press excess water from mitt (do not squeeze or wring).
Lay flat and use pins to pull out the points of the picot edging, if desired. The edging will tend to roll back a little if you choose to skip this step.
Repeat for second mitt.
